Summary of the evaluation findings
The website Eliza was here does not comply to WCAG 2.1 level AA yet. 15 out of 50 success criteria contain one or more issues. This document describes to what extent the website meets the accessibility requirements captured in WCAG, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.

This document describes to what extent the website meets the accessibility requirements captured in WCAG, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This research is a quickscan. No claims can be made about the accessibility of the website based on this research only, more research is necessary.
During this quick scan multiple accessibility issues have been identified relating to various criteria. Notable issues include:
- Navigation with keyboard is difficult because a large part of the menu are hard to reach, focus indicator is not always present and focus order is not always logical.
- There are several contrast issues, making the website hard to read for some visitors.
- Many buttons have no accessible text, making the website impossible for blind visitors to use.
The audit focuses specifically on the accessibility of the website for people with a disability, such as people who are blind, deaf, low-literate or have other functional problems. For them it is important that the website is technically and substantively designed in such a way that the site is usable. Optimizing a website for accessibility has more advantages; it makes the website more usable for everyone (for example also for people who look at their mobile phone in a sunny environment) and it makes the site easier to find in search engines.

Findings: On each page the logo in the header has the accessible name "Eliza". The text alternative of a logo should contain the full name of the organisation and all other text in the image. It should also contain the word "logo" to indicate this is an official page of the organisation.
In the cookie consent banner that appears when visiting the website for the first time the Sunweb logo only contains the alternative text "CookieInfo". Blind website visitors must be specifically alerted to the fact that this is a logo and from "Eliza was here". Since it also serves as a link it could the link target could be described as such to conform 2.4.4. Change the text, for example to "Logo Eliza was here. Ga naar de website van CookieInfo".

On the same page, if you click on a image a carousel opens with images. These images have no alt attribute at all. Make sure an image always has an alt attribute.

On the homepage https://www.elizawashere.nl/ under the header "Inspiratie voor jouw getaway" there is a carousel. Slides that are not visible can get keyboard focus. Make sure only visible elements get focus, for example let the slide that has focus slide into view.
When in a screen resolution of 1820 x 1024 px zoomed in to 200% the header of each page has a magnifying glass icon. When this icon gets keyboard focus a modal with a search field fills the screen. After the search field the next element that gets focus are elements on the page behind the modal. These elements are not visible. Make sure the focus does not leave the modal until it's closed by the visitor.
When in a screen resolution of 1820 x 1024 px zoomed in to 200% the header of each page has a menu button. The links in the menu get keyboard focus even when the menu is closed. Visitors using the keyboard to navigate the website and are not using accessibility assistance software don't know which element has focus. Make sure that elements that are not visible don't get focus.
