Information about success criterion 1.1.1 Non-text Content

Outcome: Failed

Finding 1: On each page the logo in the header has the accessible name "Eliza". The text alternative of a logo should contain the full name of the organisation and all other text in the image. It should also contain the word "logo" to indicate this is an official page of the organisation.

Finding 2: In the cookie consent banner that appears when visiting the website for the first time the Sunweb logo only contains the alternative text "CookieInfo". Blind website visitors must be specifically alerted to the fact that this is a logo and from "Eliza was here". Since it also serves as a link it could the link target could be described as such to conform 2.4.4. Change the text, for example to "Logo Eliza was here. Ga naar de website van CookieInfo".

Finding 3: On the accommodation page Appartementen Doryssa Coast https://www.elizawashere.nl/griekenland/samos/pythagorion/appartementen-doryssa-coast?Participants%5B0%5D%5B0%5D=1994-03-20&Participants%5B0%5D%5B1%5D=1994-03-20&Participants%5B0%5D%5B2%5D=1994-03-20&Duration%5B0%5D=8%2C9%2C10%2C11&DurationsRanges=8-11&Mealplan=LG&Month=2025-05-01&DepartureAirport%5B0%5D=AMS&TransportType=Flight the photo's all have the same alternative text "Appartementen Doryssa Coast". This text does not provide extra information for blind visitors. If the images are there only for decoration leave the alt empty. If the images convey information provide this information in the alt text, don't repeat the title of the page.
On the same page, if you click on a image a carousel opens with images. These images have no alt attribute at all. Make sure an image always has an alt attribute.

Finding 30: There is no mechanism to avoid going through the main menu on every page. Make sure you can skip the recurrent menu and go straight to the main content of the page. Use for example a skip link like on page https://www.elizawashere.nl/blog/5-x-unieke-en-onvergetelijke-vakanties-met-kinderen/ to skip to the content of the page.

Information about success criterion 2.4.3 Focus Order

Outcome: Failed

Finding 32: In the menu bar in the header of each page the menu items that open a dropdown, like "Bestemmingen" do not get keyboard focus. They can only be reached by means of the arrow keys, but blind visitors navigating with the tab key will not know these items exist. Make sure all interactive items get keyboard focus.

Finding 33: When on the homepage https://www.elizawashere.nl/ the textbox "Bestemming" has focus, a dropdown with destination choices opens. These choices do not get keyboard focus. Make sure all interactive elements that are visible get focus.

Finding 34: On the homepage https://www.elizawashere.nl/ under the header "Inspiratie voor jouw getaway" there is a carousel. Slides that are not visible can get keyboard focus. Make sure only visible elements get focus, for example let the slide that has focus slide into view.

Finding 35: When in a screen resolution of 1820 x 1024 px zoomed in to 200% the header of each page has a magnifying glass icon. When this icon gets keyboard focus a modal with a search field fills the screen. After the search field the next element that gets focus are elements on the page behind the modal. These elements are not visible. Make sure the focus does not leave the modal until it's closed by the visitor.

Finding 36: When in a screen resolution of 1820 x 1024 px zoomed in to 200% the header of each page has a menu button. The links in the menu get keyboard focus even when the menu is closed. Visitors using the keyboard to navigate the website and are not using accessibility assistance software don't know which element has focus. Make sure that elements that are not visible don't get focus.

Information about success criterion 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context)

Outcome: Failed

Finding 37: On the homepage under "Top 6 favoriete ontdekkingen" there are cards with destinations. Each card has links to country, region and placename. Make sure the link text properly describes the destination of the link.

Outcome: Failed

Finding 39: The text fields "E-mail adres" and "Wachtwoord" on https://www.elizawashere.nl/login are not visually labelled (placeholders disappear once input is commenced). Information about success criterion 2.4.7 Focus Visible

Outcome: Failed

Basis for this evaluation

The audit was conducted based on the evaluation method of the W3C, WCAG-EM. This is largely done manually by taking a sample. For a quickscan we use parts of this methodology. Despite all the researcher's care and experience, it is possible that a problem has not been identified. Keep in mind that in a next audit certain parts could be assessed differently because of further development of techniques and assistive software. Tools are used in the manual audit.
